All-ACP: Intra-ACP Knowledge Exchange on Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation in ACP Countries

Context and Objectives

The objective of this project was to facilitate knowledge exchange activities for ACP countries.

Main Activities and Results

In the margins of the GFDRR Fall Consultative Group meeting, the second edition of the Focus Day on the ACP-EU NDRR Program took place on 9 November 2018 in Brussels, Belgium, organized by the OACPS Secretariat and the European Commission. During the Focus Day, nearly 90 stakeholders – including Regional Organizations, officials from ACP countries, ACP embassies in Brussels, ACP Secretariat, European Union (EU), Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery/ World Bank, and civil society organizations – learned from countries and regional organizations about how they are strengthening their resilience to natural hazards, including through projects financed by the ACP-EU NDRR Program.

The Focus Day provided an opportunity to take stock of the ACP-EU NDRR Program and the over 100 projects in its portfolio, identify challenges and opportunities, and exchange perspectives and on-the-ground experience. The event drew parallels between country-level (Window 2) projects and regional (Window 1) projects, and provided implementing partners, such as NGOs and African Regional Economic Communities (RECs), with an opportunity to share their experiences.

In addition, this grant funded the organization of the third Focus Days, and closing event of the ACP-EU NDRR Program which took place on 28-30 September 2021, co-organized by the OACPS, the European Commission and GFDRR.
