The deep dive assessment builds on the scorecard’s rapid assessment and uses semi-structured expert interviews and additional research to form a better understanding of the implementation of health system capabilities on the ground. Relying on data collection site visits, and expert interviews, this type of assessment is more resource intensive. As such, it is well suited for countries with smaller health systems; in larger countries, it can be tailored for use in subnational regions or focused on specific issues with a narrower scope. The results can be used to derive concrete actions for strengthening the resilience of health systems to shocks.
