IdentificArte: Movilizándonos con el riesgo
2018
Community theater performance
Viviana Grajales Vargas is a cultural manager and an actress who uses arts-based methods for community interventions. These performances were given at community workshops hosted by the University of Manizales (Colombia) and the University of East Anglia (England) as part of the project ‘Moving with Risk: Forced Displacement and Vulnerability to Hazards in Colombia’, funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund (UKRI-GCRF) and the University of Manizales.
A community performance based on ‘The Theatre of The Oppressed’ (Agusto Boal), this piece shows the trajectories of risk experienced by people, forced into displacement by the armed conflict, who are living in places where they are now exposed to risk from environmental hazards. The performance seeks to render visible this double jeopardy for more communities and governmental institutions, as well as community-based ideas and practices to reduce disaster risks in Soacha.
