The Africa Caribbean Pacific – Natural Disaster Risk Reduction (ACP-EU NDRR) Program is an initiative of the Organisation for African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (OACPS), funded by the European Union (EU) and managed by the World Bank-led Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR). It has aimed to work with governments across all three regions to promote the development and adoption of Disaster Risk Management (DRM) policies. This cooperation has spanned 149 projects across over 70 countries and has resulted in training opportunities for over 34,000 representatives of government institutions, regional organizations, civil society, the private sector and academia, and the development of nearly 500 analytical products.
The ACP-EU NDRR Program has provided key technical assistance to help stakeholders launch wide-ranging reforms and activities to strengthen resilience to climate change and natural hazards. By placing DRM at the heart of their development policies and by prioritizing resilience and preparedness, ACP countries working with the ACP-EU NDRR Program have been able to equip themselves with new tools and resources to protect their populations and development gains.
