Ecuador's National Plan for Disaster Assistance has defined strategic mechanisms to identify the necessary actions to save lives, protect property and the environment, meet human needs and ensure the rights of people, stabilize the effects of the adverse event, restore basic services and functionality of the affected areas, and establish a safe environment that facilitates recovery. These mechanisms and actions can act as a resource for other countries in the region.
