The ACP-EU NDRR Strengthening Urban and Coastal Resilience in Saint-Louis, Senegal project has provided the Government of Senegal with key technical support in reducing the vulnerability of populations to climatic hazards, particularly those living in neighborhoods at risk from coastal erosion, and to strengthen urban and coastal resilience.
The project has also helped inform other initiatives such as the World Bank-funded Saint Louis Emergency Recovery and Resilience Project (SERRP). One of SERRP’s achievements has been the relocation of communities from the Langue de Barbarie who were threatened by rising sea levels to an area safe for human habitation.
The project has released a video describing this achievement and the planning process for long-term coastal resilience. This video is available in English here and in French here.
